Negotiation update 4/16/19

Hello fellow RNs,

There has been some discussions with the hospital officials about the contract getting turned down.  We have informed the hospital of the survey results and discussed the reasons for the contract not being voted in.  After much deliberation, the hospital officials state that they will not be making any changes to the contract.  They have expressed that they have given us more than they have given any other hospital in the system and that this contract is a fair one.  Therefore, there will be a final contract vote.  The vote will be to yes to accept the contract that is offered or no to the contract.

We want it to be VERY clear that voting NO will mean STRIKE.  Voting YES will mean that the contract is ACCEPTED AS IS.  So, please take the opportunity to look at the highlights of the new language and really think about your decision.  Although we were not able to get everything in the contract that we wanted, we did get a lot of positive language.  We are going in a positive direction every time we negotiate a new contract.

We will keep improving the language and conditions for nurses. We are always taking input for the nurses and voicing your concerns and will continue to do so.  We will always be transparent with you all.  The union committee as a whole supports the new contract.  Just keep in mind that the union committee has the best interest in mind for the nurses of the hospital.

The voting sessions will take place for five days, so that everyone will have an opportunity to vote.  Final contract vote will be April 29th-May 3rd.  The time will be 7:30 am- 8:00 pm.  The voting sessions will be in Conference Room A&B.    In solidarity.
