The below letter was received from Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand:

Dear Mrs. Little-Blue,

Thank you for contacting me to share your concerns with the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, SAVE America Act, and the Make American Elections Great Again Act. The freedom to vote is fundamental to the strength of our democracy and I am committed to ensuring that every eligible American has equal access to the right the vote.

These bills are extreme pieces of anti-voter legislation masquerading themselves as efforts to strengthen voter ID and election security. Republicans have manufactured an election security crisis despite the fact that it is already illegal for non-citizens to vote in federal elections. If enacted, these bills could disenfranchise up to 21 million Americans, particularly low-income Americans, women, and members of the military. Millions of eligible citizens, including seniors, veterans, working families, and nearly 70 million women who have taken their spouses' last names, could be blocked from registering to vote or casting a ballot simply because they lack access to the paperwork that would be required under these proposals. As your Senator, I will continue to stand up for our democracy to ensure that every citizen is heard at the ballot box. Should any of these bills come up for a vote in the Senate, I will vote no.

It is a great honor to serve as Senator of New York. Thank you again for contacting me about your concerns regarding these un-American, anti-voter registration bills.  I hope that you will keep in touch with my office regarding future legislation and concerns you may have. Sincerely,

Kirsten Gillibrand
United States Senator
