Education and Membership Development
(CAT, Education & Organizing)
Communication and Action Team (CAT)
The CAT Committee is essential to keeping our membership informed of issues affecting our Local. These dedicated members will stand outside handing out flyers, making phone calls and so much more. Our CAT committee currently sends messages from our Local Union leadership to members using our mobile alert system. Our CAT committee is responsible for managing orders for apparel and other items with our Local Union logo. The CAT committee in combination with the office of our Local Recording Secretary are responsible for these publications and distribution of materials.
Education
The goal of our education committee is to plan, develop, and implement training programs to educate members on the functions, policies, and procedures of the Union. The committee also develops and distributes educational materials to provide knowledge to members to further educate members.
Organizing (New Member and Mentoring)
This committee is designed to foster relationships with new employees by partnering new employees with active Union members to help guide them in our workplace. This allows our newest employees to get the full benefit of their Union and learn about how the Union works while learning the ropes. This committee also allows for members who would like to become more active in the Union to shadow current Union officers and committee chairs to learn the intricate details of their position. When members are informed and educated, our Union is successful.
This committee also houses our internal organizing effort that helps facilitate internal organizing campaigns to engage and energize our membership with a goal of achieving 100% membership.
