Royal City Mission meals update

The Downtown Guelph organizations who offer services to the vulnerable population in Guelph (Royal City Mission, The Drop In Centre, Hope House and others) have met to figure out the best way to continue providing valuable services to those most vulnerable in our city.

The current plan is as follows:

Hope House is offering out-services such as food cupboard delivery.

The Drop-In Centre is currently closed. Meanwhile, the staff are working in our local hotels to help support the homeless being housed during the Covid-19 crisis.

The St. Ignatius Centre is housing our homeless and vulnerable community showing signs of the virus, needing to self isolate and/or waiting for test results.

The Royal City Mission staff are relentlessly preparing meals that are delivered to our local hotels and to the St. Ignatius Centre. Additionally, anyone needing a meal can line up at the front doors of the Mission at 11:00am and 6:00pm every day.

The United Steelworkers Local 4120, by way of the South-Central Area Council Women's Committee and the Family & Education Fund, continue to provide pizza every Friday night and our committed local volunteers continue to provide a monthly home cooked meal served on the first Thursday of the month. Due to safety reasons, the Royal City Mission staff have taken over serving the meals for the time being.

The Royal City Mission is accepting donations. They are in need of soup and stews in freezable containers and baked goods such as cookies and squares that can be individually packaged. You can drop off your donations at the back door of the Mission from 9:00am to 3:00pm, Monday to Friday.
